RTD (resistance temperature detector) is used to detect in a timely manner the rupture of the oil film between the shaft and the shoes, due to a bad equipment assembly, cut or leakage in the oil supply, inadequate oil inlet temperature, bad bearing surface or over speed.
DIRECTION
Early detection prevents major damage to the equipment, as well as to the shoes themselves, which are susceptible to the babbitt wiping when temperature exceeds the range of 265°F (130°C).
